Shining Friend Of God

Published in Me Myself and I, Prayers, Reflections of a 20 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, What the Bible means to Me- A 20 year old

I have an obsessive personality :D and lately I’ve been listening to the Sons of Korah songs over and over… I wish I could find the music for them because they are just so beautiful and powerful.

Psalms 67
God, be gracious to us, and bless us. May he make his face shine toward us, (Selah) so that your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples give thanks to you, God; let the peoples give thanks to you, all of them. Let the nations be glad and shout for joy, for you will judge the peoples fairly and guide the nations on earth. (Selah) Let the peoples give thanks to you, God; let the peoples give thanks to you, all of them. The earth has yielded its harvest; may God, our God, bless us. May God continue to bless us, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.

I am making that my song the cry of my heart! I want Him to be praised and given thanks to. I want Him to be given everything He deserves that I can give Him. As I was listening to this song I started thinking about His face shining on me. It brings to mind when I read about Moses coming down from His presence and his face was shining so much that they people were afraid and Moses had to cover his face.

Exodus 34
When Moshe came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand, he didn’t realize that the skin of his face was sending out rays of light as a result of his talking with [ADONAI]. When Aharon and the people of Isra’el saw Moshe, the skin of his face was shining; and they were afraid to approach him. But Moshe called to them; then Aharon and all the community leaders came back to him, and Moshe spoke to them. Afterwards, all the people of Isra’el came near; and he passed on to them all the orders that ADONAI had told him on Mount Sinai. Once Moshe had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. But when he went in before ADONAI for him to speak, he would take the veil off until he came out; then, when he came out, he would tell the people of Isra’el what he had been ordered. But when the people of Isra’el saw Moshe’s face, that the skin of Moshe’s face shone, he would put the veil back over his face until he went in again to speak with [ADONAI].

I want Him to shine His face on me just like Moses. I want to be like Moses in so many ways. Moses was called friend of God.

Exodus 33:11
ADONAI would speak to Moshe face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

It is my deepest wish to have God talk to me face to face; to be my close friend! He is the only one who will always be there for you. You can always count on Him. Everyone needs a friend like that.
Sometimes it feels as tho I can’t hear Him when I pray, but I know He always hears me and I have to remind myself that just because He doesn’t answer right away doesn’t mean He won’t answer at all. :) I pray that I am always open to hear whatever His reply is and to do it.

Our God is wonderful and awesome and deserves all our praises and thanks! He has done so much for us and there is no way we could repay it. THAT just shows His everlasting love to us: even though we can’t ever repay what He has done, He continues to give it!
What a loving God He is!

What An Awesome God!

Published in Reflections of a 20 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, Super Favorites, What the Bible means to Me- A 20 year old

When I see something like that, all I can think is what an awesome and loving God I serve! Its hard for me to not believe there is a God who is loving and kind when I see such beauty as that.

Deuteronomy 10:17
For ADONAI your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty and awesome God, who has no favorites and accepts no bribes.

There are so many things in daily life that remind me of what an awesome God I serve. I feel such privilege to be able to serve the great, mighty and awesome God that He is!

I’ve never really been a fan of Rich Mullins nor the song Awesome God, but I was listening to it this week and actually listened to the words. Pretty powerful really!

When He rolls up His sleeves
He ain’t just putting on the ritz
(Our God is an awesome God)
There’s thunder in His footsteps
And lightning in His fists
(Our God is an awesome God)
And the Lord wasn’t joking
When He kicked ‘em out of Eden
It wasn’t for no reason
That He shed His blood
His return is very close
And so you better be believing that
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

And when the sky was starless
In the void of the night
(Our God is an awesome God)
He spoke into the darkness
And created the light
(Our God is an awesome God)
Judgement and wrath He poured out on Sodom
Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross
I hope that we have not
Too quickly forgotten that
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God
Our God is an awesome God
Our God is an awesome God

This line: “I hope that we have not too quickly forgotten that our God is an awesome God” really caught my attention. We get so caught up with life sometimes that we do forget what an awesome and mighty God he is.

Psalms 47:2
For ADONAI ‘Elyon is awesome, a great king over all the earth.

He truly is and He deserves so much more than we can give Him, yet, He still loves us! What an awesome God He is!

Whiter Than Snow

Published in City Gal Living In The Country, Me Myself and I, Reflections of a 20 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, The Daily Life at The Daily Planet, What the Bible means to Me- A 20 year old

that is what I woke up… if you know me, you know I DO NOT LIKE SNOW! So I complained (*gasp*) about it on my Facebook and promptly got a smack for complaining about it. First Mom said I need to learn to be positive about it then MamaArcher told me to go look up these Scriptures:

Psalms 51:7
Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Isaiah 1:18
Come now,” says ADONAI, “let’s talk this over together. Even if your sins are like scarlet, they will be white as snow; even if they are red as crimson, they will be like wool.

Ok… so I need to stop complaining about the snow since it serves as a reminder that I am clean in His sight and my sins are no more. HalleluYah! What a blessed sign from our Savior!

Sometimes we just need a little smack upside our heads to come back to where we need to be.

I Am The Wretch

Published in Me Myself and I, Reflections of a 20 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, Too True, What the Bible means to Me- A 20 year old

I was singing Amazing Grace to Samuel last night and he was just staring at me and actually smiled once. :) It got me to thinking… what a simple thing to we need to always remember: His Amazing Grace!

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.

Every time I sing this hymn, I get a new sense of awe and gratefulness for my Savior who continually gives me his amazing grace when I so don’t deserve it.

Psalms 31:21
Blessed be ADONAI! For he has shown me his amazing grace when I was in a city under siege.

I am the wretch the song refers to and I have and will continue to receive His amazing grace because He loves me. Wow!

A Place To Hide

Published in I'm Photogenic, Me Myself and I, Reflections of a 19 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, What the Bible means to Me- A 19 year old

Do you ever feel like you just want to hide away? Hide from all your problems, all your hurt, all your pain, all of life? I know I do. Sometimes it just seems everything is going wrong and you just need to get away from it all. The best place I have found to do that is in God. He is here for us all the time and we can run to Him and hide away from everything. He is our Hiding Place!

Psalm 32:7
You are a hiding-place for me, you will keep me from distress; you will surround me with songs of deliverance. (Selah)

Psalm 119:114
You are my hiding-place and shield; I put my hope in your word. You are my hiding place.

In Him we can hide because He will keep us. We can put our hope in Him and trust that He will take care of us. Isn’t that just so relieving to know that whenever we feel afraid we can trust in Him and hide in Him.

You Are My Hiding Place
You always fill my heart
With songs
of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You

I will trust in You
Let the weak say
I am strong
In the strength of the Lord

You are my hiding place
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You

I will trust in You
Let the weak say I am strong
In the strength of the Lord
I will trust in You

I’m so glad that I have a hiding place to run to and find rest and peace and strength in! We serve an awesome God, y’all!

There Is Always Hope!

Published in Me Myself and I, Reflections of a 19 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, Waiting for My Superman... My Hopes, What the Bible means to Me- A 19 year old

Hope. It’s hard to describe what hope is, I think. I really love the description of what hope is… it gives me hope just to read it :)

Hope
A desire of some good, accompanied with at least a slight expectation of obtaining it, or a belief that it is obtainable. Hope differs from wish and desire in this, that it implies some expectation of obtaining the good desired, or the possibility of possessing it. Hope therefore always gives pleasure or joy; whereas wish and desire may produce or be accompanied with pain and anxiety.

I think that is just a beautiful way to put it! I’ve been learning that we must keep hope even when it seems that whatever we are hoping for is all but lost. The Bible even says:

Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

When it seems all hope is lost, our hearts are heavy and down and it is hard to be hopefully for things we have waited or are waiting so long for. It seems like there is no hope left is when the Lord will show us to keep holding onto hope.

Ecclesiastes 9:4
For as long as a person is linked with the living, there is hope.

As long as you’re living you will hope and as long as you’re living there will be hope for those hopes to happen.
Hope goes hand in hand with trust. You can’t have trust without hope.

Hebrews 11:1
Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.

We need to continue trusting in our hopes. It’s much easier to believe something when we see it then when we don’t.

Romans 8:24
But if we see what we hope for, it isn’t hope – after all, who hopes for what he already sees?

It takes more to believe and hope for something when you can’t see it, it also makes you trust and hope in God more.  So… where do you put that hope though? Do you put it in material, yourself, or God?

Psalm 27:14
Put your hope in ADONAI, be strong, and let your heart take courage! Yes, put your hope in ADONAI!

Psalm 37:34
Put your hope in ADONAI, keep to his way, and he will raise you up to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

Psalm 38:15
For it is in you, ADONAI, that I hope. You will answer, Adonai my God.

He knows our hopes and desires and He will answer us in His timing and with His answer. Just remember to continue to hope even when it seems lost!

Romans 12:12
Rejoice in your hope, be patient in your troubles, and continue steadfastly in prayer.

Remaining Hopeful Always,
