Reubens

Published in Eatin' Good!, Organics, Super Favorites

After seeing something about Reuben sandwiches on Mrs. Degenhart’s facebook… I got a hankering for them. So I did some research on Reubens and put the ingredients on my grocery list and headed off to the store to get them so we could have the delicious Reubens this week. I’m not sure delicious is a strong enough word for these sandwiches, y’all! Seriously these Reubens were like mouth watery! soo good! Doesn’t your mouth water just looking at it? Mine does!

Ingredients:

Rye Bread
Corned Beef
Muenster Cheese
Mayonnaise (you can use Thousand Island if you like that)
Sauerkraut
Butter
Iron Skillet

Directions:
Take your rye bread lightly butter one side, then on the other side put mayonnaise. Lather on as much as you can stand… mine was lightly. Then put the corned beef on the mayonnaised rye, then the sauerkraut, then the cheese. You can layer them as high as you want. Then spread mayonnaise on one side of the other slice of rye and put it on the sandwich. Butter the outside and put the whole sandwich in your hot iron skillet. Grill until the cheese melts and the rye becomes slightly brown.

That is totally it! Took me no time to make it and it was like phenomenal! :D

It’s kinda funny…  every time I hear “Reuben” I remember an old song I used to like and so I changed the lyrics to accommodate sandwich eating. The original goes: “Reuben, what does he thinkin’ he’s doin’?” and I changed it to “Reuben, its what I’m gonna be eatin’“. You have to hear the tune cause its hilarious… yes, I get a little crazy when there is food involved! shocking? nah ;)

So yeah… umm… they are really good and everyone should love them. :D

Whiter Than Snow

Published in City Gal Living In The Country, Me Myself and I, Reflections of a 20 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, The Daily Life at The Daily Planet, What the Bible means to Me- A 20 year old

that is what I woke up… if you know me, you know I DO NOT LIKE SNOW! So I complained (*gasp*) about it on my Facebook and promptly got a smack for complaining about it. First Mom said I need to learn to be positive about it then MamaArcher told me to go look up these Scriptures:

Psalms 51:7
Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Isaiah 1:18
Come now,” says ADONAI, “let’s talk this over together. Even if your sins are like scarlet, they will be white as snow; even if they are red as crimson, they will be like wool.

Ok… so I need to stop complaining about the snow since it serves as a reminder that I am clean in His sight and my sins are no more. HalleluYah! What a blessed sign from our Savior!

Sometimes we just need a little smack upside our heads to come back to where we need to be.

The Results Of My Labors

Published in I'm Photogenic, Me Myself and I, The Daily Life at The Daily Planet

Here I sit doing nothing in particular, (weird, huh?) on this Labor Day. I’ve never actually understood the concept of Labor Day. You’d think that Labor Day would be the day we all labor on which would be nice since it would leave us with 364 days of no labor, right? :P Yeah, I know… I’m a dreamer. Anyway, here I sit not laboring, looking for something on Vostro and came the the folder dubbed, “Construction” which has all the pictures of all the work we did in May and June trying to finish the addition. As I was looking through the pictures I remembered I never showed y’all the doors I labored on even tho I Facebooked and Twittered about them ALL THE TIME! So what a perfect post for this Labor Day, right? Well I think so… so here they are :)

I had 4 doors that looked like this:

that went from that to this:

to this:

I stained them first and was going to do another coat of stain, but didn’t need to since they were darker than we really wanted. So I stained once, but put 2 coats of polyurethane on all four doors. It doesn’t sound like much, but it was a took me about a week for all four of them to be complete. Plus it was kinda confusing because you had to let the coats dry completely before adding another and sometimes I forgot which doors I did and which I didn’t. :P

I also had to do all the frames around the doors:

And since those were already up, it was tedious standing there and staining/polyurethaning them. But they got done and they turned out wonderful! :D

Now… those doors were the easy part! I also had a set plus one of French doors with 15 window panes ON. EACH. SIDE. which equals to 75 window panes to stain! WHEW! talk about tedious! Word to the wise… Don’t buy french doors! :P

So this what they looked like in the beginning:

I ended up staining these twice because the wood was different than the other doors and took the stain differently so I technically stained 150 window panes! :O

After I stained them twice, I added two coats of polyurethane… which is another 150. LOL! very tedious, but the end result is worth it:

Thus concludes my labors. Even tho it was A LOT of work, I’m glad I did it and finished it and very happy with the way the doors look.

I also stained the dining room floor and the spare room floor… but that’s for a different time. I am really proud of myself for those floors. :D they are beautiful! I could totally get into doing this… I think! :P
