Aww Man!

Published in Ahh!! Ugh!!, Growing In Grace Magazine, My Laptop, The Daily Life at The Daily Planet

I was so miserable last nite! My beloved laptop screen is broken. I do not know how or why either.
We were having some storms yesterday, so we had shut all the desktops off, along with the router and dsl. I had taken my laptop upstairs because I was going to work on my last article for GGM. But other things happened and I didn’t get to work on it. I was sitting on Mom’s bed with it, then Jocelyn asked me to watch LillieGirl. Well LillieGirl and I were playing and building pillow mountains and I had my laptop open. I went to look at something, but Mom had said to get off because she wanted me to play with Lilliegirl. So I got off and closed the screen to my laptop. LillieGirl and I were playing and Cal-Eb came and went a couple of times. After about 20 min., LillieGirl went to Mom and I opened my laptop again. I found this:

I started bawling! Not necessarily that my screen was cracked, but more that I thought it probably wouldn’t be able to have it fixed and back by next week. We have something that I absolutely have to it it for.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t in the middle of the screen and had all those lines. When I cracked Mom’s screen back in January, it was just on the corner, so we could at least see the majority of what we were working on. Mine is smack dab in the center! I just want to cry!

So needless to say I am so sad. I called Dell today and spent an hour talking to someone… well I spent about half the time on hold, but I finally have a solution!
They are going to mail out a new LCD on Monday before lunch to a local Dell tech and he is going to contact me to set up a time to fix my screen.
The guy I talked to was sooo helpful! He told me that the latest the tech would have it would be next Thursday! That is an answer from God!
The wonderful thing is that it can be back by Thursday! It is imperative that I have it by then because there is something that has to be done by Friday!
THANK YOU, Jesus! I am just beside myself! I am so thankful that God worked everything out!

It is really hard to sit at it and work. Besides starting cry because its broken, every time I go to use it, I have to scrunch whatever I am working on to a little box which isn’t very nice, if you are working 90% of the time on things.

I am so bummed. I guess the bright side of things is that it broke after I had all my GGM articles done. Oh and be sure to check out the site today, because its Monica’s birthday and the June issue will be up on the first!

Ok… well I am off to try and steal Mom’s laptop to get some things done. sigh…
Hope y’all are having a better weekend than I am. Plus… we have more storms coming.
Love, Blessings and Prayers As Always,

Boy, sorry about the laptop. That’s gotta stink…

My brother’s laptop did a similar thing today. He turned it on, and the screen had weird lines across it. He can’t even boot it up.

Luckily for me, I’ve never had that problem. But then again, I’ve never had a laptop…

    Bummersville.

Mine is broken too. I think it’s a repeat of the Dreaded Logic Board Failure I experienced a while back. It isn’t cracked, but the screen is completely unreadable. It boots and I can start iTunes and play music, but I can’t see anything. (I know my way around the screen pretty well, even if I can’t see it.)

I really don’t like tech support. It’s usually some Korean or Japanese person who can hardly understand me.

I personally am not a fan of Dell’s laptops. Their desktops are fine, but I don’t like their laptops. Well, their Ubuntu ones are okay. But the ones with Windows, especially Windows Vista are not very nice. (Okay, being a Mac user/Linux guru I am a little biased.)

Rats. I’ve essentially pronounced my iBook dead. I’ll have to figure out what I want to do with it. I could probably get some money for some of the parts if I sell them on eBay. It’s a bummer, I know. But I’ve got a good chance at getting a job at the library, so I might buy a MacBook once I can save up enough money.
