I don’t know if you all noticed, but I added some music to my blog. Yes, of course, the first song is the Superman Theme… what did you expect? ![]()
But if you listen long enough you will hear some of my favorite hymns. Ahh… hymns. By the way, the player is at the very bottom of my blog and you can choose what song you want to hear. ![]()
Anyway, just being able to hear the songs is just so refreshing to me. I actually just load my blog to hear the songs. I absolutely love it!
Don’t you just love the old hymns? Lately, I have come to have a great appreciation for music. Not the regular music you hear now-a-days on the radio. We actually stopped listening to the radio because the new songs are not really about God. They talk about the singer or tell stories of people. Yes, they are about God, but they don’t really talk about and praise God. So we just stopped listening to the new stuff.
I have come to love the old hymns and instrumental music. I have always loved music! Really, I can remember being 18mo singing “Jesus Loves Me” & “Deep and Wide” on the church stage with my Aunt Jen. Unfortunately, it is recorded somewhere…ugh! Anyway, so I have always loved music and singing!
When I was about 13 I really wanted to play the piano. Well we weren’t able to get me lessons, so my interest dwindled. Then I wanted to learn the drums and last year was the guitar. I would still love to learn the drums, but I highly doubt that will happen. Now… the guitar and piano is a different story. I really love like to learn how to play them. I actually taught myself to read music and play some songs on the piano a couple years ago, and I play ‘very ill indeed’.
We watched “The Pianist” this week and WOW! What an amazing story of a man. Watching that movie was amazing and watching the guy play the piano has just made me really enjoy and come to love playing the piano.
Not to mention watching that movie about WWII was so amazing. He was a Polish Jew, and he actually survived living in hiding in Poland. That in itself is amazing, because Poland was one country that the German’s just completely purged of Jews. So him surviving is really a miracle!
Now having watched The Pianist and then listening to Mr. Sensenig’s Tis So Sweet cd, I really have come to have a new appreciation and love for the piano. If only I could learn to play… haha… maybe someday!
I have also found out I really love “Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven”. I don’t know why but that is just beautiful! It’s so… I don’t know what word I am looking for, but it is just really neat to hear that song played!
Also I absolutely love Selah! We actually got to meet them about 3 times when they came to visit our old church. It was really neat because every time they would visit Mom would be pregnant and Nicole (Smith) remembered her! We got pictures of us with her children and of me with Todd Smith. So the love for their music is pretty deep. Not to mention they play some old hymns just beautifully!
While listening to these hymns and praises, I found some scriptures on praises to God. I mentioned above that we don’t listen to the radio, while we don’t listen to the radio there is nothing wrong with praising God and singing songs. It is just the songs that you listen to or sing that matter!
Be encouraged by these scriptures!
2 Samuel 22:50
Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
Psalm 47:6
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
Psalm 68:4
Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
Psalm 68:32
Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:
Psalm 135:3
Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.
Psalm 146:2
While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
Acts 16:25
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
So anyway… I just wanted to share my new love: the piano! If you have time, stay awhile and listen to my favorites and then let me know some of your favorites!
Take care and have a SUPER weekend!
Love, Blessings and Prayers As Always,

Thanks for stopping by “Daily” at the “Planet”!!

Hello,
I really like Be Thou My Vision as well. I think it is just so pretty. I learned to play a very simple version on my sisters key board and I really like to play it!

Awesome! I love Selah! And you got to meet them? No fair!
I am no longer a fan of most contemporary music. I don’t find it worth my time or dedication. But I’ll post on that later. Hymns are just about the only thing I can stand to listen to. Have you heard of 2nd Chapter of Acts? They have two traditional hymn CDs that are simply phenomenal.

Ahh… I need to get out that video and upload it to youtube. Wouldn’t that be fun??? Paulie, wanna help?? Deee-eeeep a-and wiii-iiiide…… muhhahahaahaaaa
Totally love the piano… It is never too late to learn!! I love that and the guitar.
I agree with you about the Christian music today. Also about the worship music too. When I led worship, I was really into all of the new contemporary worship music, but it became sour when I realized a lot of it is not focused on God, who should be the object of our worship, but rather, it was focused on self, the worshiper. It is hard to muddle through music focused on sinfulness and me, me, me, so I would much rather listen to the old hymns, classical and musicals/opera music.
I don’t even like the actual music of a lot of sings today. Too much like the world a lot of times.
You should post those pics of you guys and Selah. They are here somewhere… did you get them in a scrapbook? Probably. You are so much better about that than I am.
I praise God for the light you are to the world, my dearest oldest daughter. I love you.
Love, Mom

I LOVE old hymns!!! One of my all time favorites is Amazing Grace…I used to sing that to the girls when they were babies when I was putting them to bed…They would start crying when I put them in their crib, and than I’d start singing, and they would quiet down..at least until I stopped singing…Jesus Love Me is another I would sing to them…
I always wanted to learn the piano as well, and now I’d like the girls to learn…also the violin, but we’ll see. I don’t have money to get them lessons either, but hopefully some day.
Thanks for your comments…They always bring a smile to my face, and comfort to my heart!

Wow, you definitely hit the right topic! I am getting excited just thinking about it!
I think it was for my thirteenth birthday that my Grammy gave me a keyboard. It is old, and not the greatest keyboard you can buy, but I love it! I have taught myself on it ever since then. I have gone from Mary had a Little Lamb, to Fur Elise (not the real one, just an easeir version. It is actually really easy.)
On the subject of loving music, you are reading the comment of one crazy music lover! I would listen to beautiful classical music, and hymns for hours, literally.
My favorite hymns? Well, I think that Be Thou My Vision, Take My Life and Let it Be, and nearly any Christmas hymn are my favorites. I also like musicals.
I totally love the drums! I love the beat that they create, and I love when the song gets to it’s highest point, and the drums, well, I don’t know what it’s called. I don’t think I want to learn to play them, I just like to listen.
*sigh* I love music!
Wait! Moonlight Sonata just came on, and I love that one too! This is the song that my cousin played for my aunts funeral. He played it beautifully, and everytime I here it, I think of my cousing, and my aunt.
Your musical friend,
Eyebright

Hey, thanks for your comment. I’m pretty sure that we’re both staying at the Suarez’s when we go down, so I tell you what.
I always play one of the guitars when I go down, so maybe I can show you a thing or two. And I know daddy would be happy to show stuff on the Piano. I don’t know. I’m kind of a bad teacher, but, who knows?
I agree with you that the CCM stuff just isn’t about God. And it’s pretty depressing, too.
I really like the hymns too, but daddy introduced me to this jazz band, so I’m hooked on that right now.
Btw, how’d you like the video?

Nice webpage! I like your songs, as well.
We sang “Does Jesus Care?” (along with many other hymns) this morning during our worship. I’ll always think of my dad when I hear that song, telling me about the first time he heard it. He was probably about ten, and it was at the funeral of his baby brother, Warren. My dad got a lot of comfort from the words of that song.
I’m glad you’re improving. It sounds like your whole family is starting to perk up. I’ve sure been praying for Caleb.

You love piano? I can sympathize strongly with that!
I thought that music theme must have something to do with Superman! LOL! It’s Super music!
Oooh, I love selah’s music too! Have you heard any of Soveriegn Grace’s music?
I’m trying to teach myself to enjoy any style of music, as long as the words are God-honoring. The old classical hymns are my favorite, but my church and family tend to favor other rhythems. They’re good about keeping the words holy, though.
Right now, I’m listening to It is Well. One of my top ten favorites!

Hello!
I absolutely adore music! I walk around my house singing all day, I sing in the shower, I can play piano fairly well, and I am just learning guitar. I have had about 4 lessons and I can play a few simple chords. Music really is one of my passions.
I do listen to contemporary music, for alot of different reasons. I like the beat and how revved up it makes me. There are actually alot of great new songs that totally praise God. Hillsong United is the first band that I can think of when I think of that departement. What about Chris Tomlin and Michael W. Smith? I am not flaming you, just trying to point out different things.
I do love hymns though. Some of my favourites are Be thou My Vision (I LOVE the piano version you have), Turn your Eyes Upon Jesus, Trust and Obey, How Great thou Art, and a few others I can’t remember. Our church has found a few hymns that have a contemperary arrangement and I really enjoy those.
Sorry for the long comment. I am just so passionate about music. This all just sorta spilled out
Luv,
Miss kitty

Well, I haven’t heard the Superman theme song in YEARS! It’s really a nice song!
Can I say that your post echoes everything that I would have said about Moonlight Sonata, The Pianist, and Christian music today. You go, girl!

Hey!
Ah, yes! Music! I love music! I have learned over the years that the best way to make friends, is asked them what kind of music they like. And so far, every time I ask that question, it’s either Christian or country. And being I love both, it’s helped me make friends by just asking that one question.
I really like the songs on your playlist! And though I don’t watch Smallville, I love the theme song!
I never really appreciated old hymns when I lived in Louisiana, but now that we moved to Alabama and are going to a church that sings from hymn books, I find myself really liking hymns, though I only know one song by heart. And that is Amazing Grace!
I’ve wanted to see the movie “The Pianist” but we didn’t know if there was anything bad in it. And since you watched it, could you tell me if there was anything wrong with it? !
You got to meet Selah 3 times!?! Wow!!! My mom loves their music!!! In fact, their CD is in the CD player in the van right now!!!
We were listening to it on the way to church and back!
Sarah do great at “Teen Talent”! Sarah won first in her division! Which was the string-bowed division! And plus she got a superior!!!! Which means she get to go to the “State Finals”!!!! at the end of this month!!!! It’s so exciting!!!!
Ok, I’ll let you know where I live. Umm. . . I’ll send you a private message through HSB as to where.
It would be great of we could meet each other!
Poor Cal-Eb! I hope he’s feeling better! And I know I’ve said this before but he is so adorable!
I’ll still be praying for him!
Well, hope you have a wonderfully blessed day!
lots of hugs,
Jordan Lee

I LOVE Selah, too! I missed getting to see them when they were in Olympia, WA last year. ;-( So, close!!!! ;-(
Maybe I’ll get to see them the next time they are in WA!
I did get to go to a Michael Card (http://www.michaelcard.com/index.html) concert a few weeks ago, when he was in Lacey, WA!! That was great and I enjoyed it a lot.
You also mentioned in one of your posts that you don’t listen to any radio, because of all the ‘new’ music they play that just doesn’t help you worship our Lord. I thought I would tell you about a local radio station that I listen to that I like a lot! You can also listen to them online! They’re music is very soothing and honoring to God and they play a lot more of the older songs! Check them out at: http://www.kacs.org/
Can’t say I agree with some of the programing they have on at times, but most of the time they just play music and they don’t have a bunch of paid ads like the other local radio station I’ve listened too!
