The Homesteading Carnival #38: All About My Girls Edition

Published in Carnivals, My Girls

Howdy! I want to welcome you and thank you for coming to The Homesteading Carnival #38: All About My Girls Edition!
Seeing how my Girls will be gone on Tuesday, I kinda wanted to do a tribute to them. They have really taught me alot this past year and even though I have been bitten, kicked, nuzzled and some more… I really did love having them!

Some things I learned with them:

What feed they need. We have tried many different feeds and mixures… We have a pretty good one too now from learning what works. The key to having the right mix is knowing what your horses need and changing it to customize it to them!
Knowing the good and bad about what to give them is key to a happy horse.
Same as with people. Knowing what is good for us and what is bad for us is what is going to keep up healthy and happy!

Here are some of those articles that just fill you with information on food and how to make it the BEST for you and yours!
Stephanie at Stop the Ride! has The Little House Sports Drink, Ginger Water for you to try! She has some really great information on why you should have some ginger in your everyday life and what ginger is for.

Alison the Green Me says “If you love me, give me strawberries:“. Not only are strawberries very good for you, but they hold a particularly special remembrance for Alison!

Belle
who was
Born 100 Years to Soon shows us How They Turned Maple Sap to Maple Syrup. She has a simple and easy way to make some awesome homemade Maple Syrup!

Laura Williams’ Musings says “Yogurt is easy to make and pretty cheap to make too.” in her Comment From a Reader: Making Yogurt.

Maria Fernandez who has
Health and beauty has Ten fabulous cooking tips that will help you produce wonderfully tasting dishes.

Erica who is The Sojourner has an Old Cookbook Treasure…A World of Good Eating. Oh my! This is one of the neatest cookbook I have ever seen!

Speaking of food… here are some great food ideas for us humans to try ;) :
Abi who lives on the lighter side
has a recipe for Carrot Cake Pancakes for you to try!

Arya who always has Crafts and Recipes for Young Ladies shares a wonderful Winter Treat of Chocolate Rhapsody! I must say… I will have to go and try this recipe! YUM!

How to care for an abcess. That was something unexpected that I learned a great deal from. Having to care for the abcess, I had a lot of research to do on it.

Here are some articles on the topic of do-it-yourself learning experiences.
j blu who is
Local Kine Hawaii has some Simple Life Hacks for Getting Rid of Cockroaches.

Suzanne McMinn who has Chickens in the Road has a great way to Make Your Own Wild Bird Suet.

Robin who is seeking a Heart of Wisdom definitely has her Heart At Home with the know-how and ideas for Tackling Bedside Clutter.

Asking others for advice. It is always great that when you can have others help you. It is very neat to see alot of bloggers who have dealt with the same problems you are experiencing help you through yours!
Amy who is a SimpleFolk would really like your help with Home Dairying (Advice please!) and also she would like to know Home Dairying, Continued (What Kind?)

How to run down 2 horses. Yes, this was a life experience that was wholly unexpected. Although after running them back home after escaping 2 different times through tears, I now can say that I am a horse rustler.
Training Hearts has some Farm Life Chronicles that shares a heart-felt story about an experience they had on the joys and sorrows of farm life.

Horses are a huge part of homeschooling. All of the stuff I have learned by having horses in the short time of a year, one of the most important things I have learned is that through everything I can incorporate them into almost all of my homeschooling. It is P.E., Science, Math, Language Arts, Research, Reading, Shop Class, and so much more!
Flossie who lives at
The Funny Farm has a really great Civil War Unit Study for you to implement into your homeschooling homestead.

Knowing all there is to know about horses is so great when you have two fillies and you are as green as they are! When you know what you need to, you know what you need to have to accomplish that.
Woman Tribune
has The Holy Grail of Coffee Machines for us to gaze at. What a nice looking coffee maker!
Jacque who is
Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths knows all too well of a wonderful list Things to do Inside “When the Weather Outside is Frightful”

I hope you have enjoyed sharing My Learning Experiences with my Girls! Thank you for all of your prayers throughout the year for me and the Girls!
Take care and have a SUPER week!
Love, Blessings and Prayers As Always,

Your girls will be gone on Tuesday? Awww! That’s sad! :( Are you selling them or are you giving them away?

Thanks for the compliment on the new scheme! I left the couple of yellow/orange parts because I thought they made a nice contrast.

If you came down for Paul’s party that would be awesome! You should definitely make an effort to do so. ;)
