Welcome to this month’s Carnival of Principled Government.
Happy Birthday Mrs. Hanley! Hope you have a great day.
Today, we celebrate the President of the Carnival of Principled Government , Dana Hanley . She is ?? Couldn’t find out how old she was…but she is known for her witty wisdom about government and homeschooling.
February is a month that has quite a few of our Presidents birthdays too.

We celebrated President Ronald Reagan birthday on the 6th. He would have been 97 years old. He is remembered for many things, but what I think most remember him by, is “Reaganomics“.
Here is a look a Economics and what is wrong with the Economy now.
Logan Flatt at PowerWealth.com says “Let’s Be Frank, Barney: The Federal Reserve Hurts We The People.” Mr. Flatt says “America’s economic problems are not due to market forces, laissez faire economic policies, or clever financial engineering. The pathogen that most afflicts the U.S. economy today is the Federal Reserve, which engages unwarrantably in the central planning of U.S. economic growth.”
Phil for Humanity has “A Few Humble Suggestions to Get Out of this Recession” The harsh truth is that the United States of America is probably in a recession… maybe even a depression.
Doug Ragan, who says I’m A Pundit Too has “A Simple Fix For The US Economy.” He thinks that “We have had too many short term fixes from our government. It is time to look long term in respect to interest rates and taxes.”
Freddie L. Sirmans, Sr. who wants to know CAN US ECONOMY SURVIVE DOOMSDAY? presents “COLD STEEL RAW BUCK N*KED ECONOMICS 101.”
Samuel Bryson who wants Total Wellbeing asks if “Free Market Economy/Classical Liberalism Vs. The Welfare State – Which is the better ideal?” He said “For years I’ve always shunned the complete Free Market Economy with its emphasis on laissez-faire based capitalism“, but now he is rethinking his argument.
Michael Bass, who is not in Debt Prison talks about “Dave Ramsey, Peter Schiff, and decline of U.S. Economy.” He says “There are two distinct differences in their perspectives concerning our U.S. Economy and monetary policy that I find puzzling.”
Carole G. McKay who has a Gold Post-it presents “The ABC’s of 2008”
NotYourDaddy, who knows that the Government is not your Daddy asks the question “Feeding the Needy or Bolstering the Bureaucracy?” He talks about what the difference between private charities and government welfare and how one is better than the other.
He also talks on social welfare and taxes in his article “Giving Away Other People’s Money“.
upsidetrader presents “upsidetrader: Cramer Should Pay Rogue Traders Legal Bills” posted at Burning Questions – The FeedBurner Weblog.
On the 9th, we celebrated President William Harrison birthday. He would have been 235 years old. He was a great American military leader. Many things are different in our days than his.
Here is a look at some articles that aren’t entirely about military, but have a same type of vein.
Mike Kuykendall asks “Is it any surprise that Cambodia is spurning America’s offers to help reduce political interference in the trials of Khmer Rouge torturers and murderers?” in his article “Shame On Us“.
NotYourDaddy asks “What is the role of the criminal justice system? Deterrence? Rehabilitation? Revenge?” in “Crime and Punishment” ![]()
Tomorrow we celebrate President Abraham Lincoln birthday. He would have been 199 years old. His stand on slavery made him infamous. But its not only about slavery, its about the people of America and what is right. He cared about the present and future!
Here is a look at some articles that talk on that subject.
Jackson Kern at Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Causes: The Alternative Channel Blog asks “Sustainable Development: What does it mean and who wants to tell you?” He talks about “A principled government acts in the interest of its present and future citizens.”
Shaun Connell who definitely has Reason and Capitalism has a great satire on “Legislating Morality!“.
On the 22nd of this month we recognize what would have been President George Washington 276th birthday.
As our first president, he was not elected into office. He was just put there. He was asked and he went. Its a little different nowadays. As we go through this elections processes, let’s look at what some people have found out and think about the candidates we have running.
DrGizmondo at Cerebral Black Hole shows us “The puppet masters: Who’s pulling the strings behind the Presidential contenders?” “This article takes an in-depth look at the history of the people behind the presidential candidates, the advisors. Leaving to stone unturned and no candidates out, Cerebral Black Hole highlight the dirty little secrets of the “puppet masters”.”
Jacque who is Seeking Rest In The Ancient Paths posted some issues about “Homeschool Politics: Mike Huckabee and The HSLDA” and also she wanted to know what exactly is “HSLDA Politics?“.
Alvaro Fernandez, who has SharpBrains presents “A letter briefing the Next US President on 40 Health Issues, based on Grand Rounds blog carnival submissions.” in his “Grand Rounds: Briefing the Next US President on Health Care Issues“.
Leslie Carbone has some examples of why she thinks that “John McCain is unfit to be President“.
Dana Hanley of Principled Discovery shows us “Politics where it matters most to home education “. She shares a little about the different parties of our government and how much they have changed!
Sagar Satapathy of Online Nursing Degree Directory has “10 Ways a Ron Paul Presidency would Affect Health Care“. She talks about the pros of having a Doctor in the White House and how “Americans could see a health care system that puts more dollars back into taxpayer wallets and allows for more individual choice in selecting a health care provider.”
Avant News presents why “Cheney Offers to Stay on as Veep“.
Dawn Xiana Moon: Randomness shares “The show that leads into me is puppets making prank phone calls.” She talks about candidates and how “The last two weeks of The Daily Show provided some interesting commentary on not just American politics, but the media.”
Home Where They Belong had a special guest blogger with them for a couple weeks. Spunky of Spunky Homeschool did a 10 day series on presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee.

Wow, that was a lot of research that you did, it was worth the time though, because the article was quite fun and interesting to read. Mike Huckabee is a great candidate, He also is who I am voting for in the presidential elections. I am rereading this and it is coming out all choppy and random, but I can’t think right now so this is the best it gets.

LOL! We have had a lot of presidents with February birthdays! LOL!
I didn’t like Stepping Heavenward because I couldn’t really sympathize with her. When the book opens she’s 16 years old and doesn’t want to wear her boots. I think most nine year olds already know when to wear their boots! I found another book by Mrs. Prentiss very discouraging. It’s called the Flower of the Family and I figured I’d be perfect too if my family was almost perfect, and anyway, they always apreciated my tea making so much that they were constantly sending me on vacation, even though they couldn’t afford it. LOL!

That was a cool post. Very interesting. My mom’s birthday is this month, too. I still don’t know what I’m going to do for her.
I read about all the excitement you had at your house with the flooding and all. Wow.
Hope you’re doing well.
Love,
~Nikki

There are too many short term fixes. McCain it not a good candidate at all! If I could vote (in a year) I’d vote for Huckabee. How are things over there? God bless.
