I posted my 2008 Goals a month ago. Wow… I can’t believe its been a month and now we are in
February!
Anyway, I promised to post how I am going to make sure they are accomplished. I think I have figured out how to do this.
I thought it was such a great idea to know how I was going to get my goals done. Most of the time I just make goals and then don’t know how or when I want them done, so I don’t end up doing them. This year is going to be different. It is a new year and a new me!
Here is my plan:
Get into God’s Word everyday — I am going to make sure I get up EARLY and read my Bible first thing. I am going to have to go to bed earlier to accomplish this. I am going to make a Bible Reading Journal. That way I will know and remember I read it and what I read and also so that if I have any thoughts or feel like God is telling me something I can write it down and remember it.
Talk with God daily — When I pray I am going to actually talk with God, not just to Him. I am going to pray in the secret. God wants to have a conversation with me. He doesn’t just want me to ask for needs and He definitely DOES NOT want a repeat prayer. He wants me to pray to Him and talk to Him. I will make sure I actually take time and have a conversation with Him like I would any of my friends. (I am actually working on a post about prayer. Be looking forward to it.)
Be a better example — I need to be Jesus to my family. I need to act like I am suppose to. The way I am going to accomplish this goal is by having Jesus change my heart about many things. I can’t do it. Only He can. I will accomplish this by doing the 2 above things.
Work on my shortcomings — This is the same as above. I can’t fix these, only Jesus can. I will take time and get into the Word and Converse with the Lord everyday, so He can show me what I need to work on.
Finish high school — I am going to actually get my books out and just finish what I need to. I am going print off the requirements list Mom made and check off what I have done, so I know what I need to do.
Get a laptop — This one is kinda hard. I don’t have a job that pays to do this. I have come up with some plans on trying to earn enough money to be able to purchase a laptop soon.
Working for Mr. Schenck 1x a week
Helping Dad with the taxes and getting some of the return.
Sell the Horses.
Not buying anything that is NOT a necessity.
Build templates and sell them.
Hopefully with those plans I will have enough saved up soon! anyone need a template? lol…JK!
Get the wireless network set up — This requires actually going and purchasing the right parts. I don’t think it will be very hard to get it set up and working once I get the stuff.
Sell the Horses — Really the only thing I can do to accomplish this is to get some signs out in town and pray. I won’t go house to house asking if someone wants to buy the Girls. lol. I can only pray God will bring the right person to come and get them.
Lose weight and get in better shape — This also requires getting up early and doing Tae-Bo when no one else is up. When it gets warmer I will be getting up earlier and running on our country road.
I want to see my Great Grandpa and Grandma saved — To accomplish this I can only pray for them and show them Jesus through me.
I really want our house finished — There is not much work I can do out there, although I know how to do alot of construction work. I can, however, clean up the garage and organize Dad’s tools and put everything where it goes, so he can work on stuff or have a contractor come out.
Learn CSS like I know HTML — Practice, practice, practice. I am just going to have go over my template and mess with stuff to learn css. I actually know CSS, it getting it on WP and making designs for WP that I need to work on.
Learn Photoshop CS3 so I can use it proficiently — Same thing as above. And maybe get a Photoshop CS3 for dummies. haha…
I am really dying to see the Suarez’s — Well this has been accomplished to an extent. I got to see the Suarez’s a couple weeks ago, but I am missing them as much as before again… sigh. I really wish we lived ALOT closer!!
Scrapbooks caught up — We need to film developed before I can actually scrapbook pictures. We have about 10-15 rolls and disposal cameras we need to get developed from 2006-2007. We are a little behind. This is partly accomplished because ‘Auntie Christina‘ surprised my family and got 10 rolls of film developed for us. HOW SWEET!! I was her secret pal helper as she did this for us. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Learn to play guitar — First we need to get a guitar. Rachel’s got broken, we don’t know how, but I don’t think it is fixable. So we need to get a guitar. Then I need to find someone who can teach me how to play.
Become a better seamstress — I need to take my time when I sew. I am always in such a hurry to do things. I need to slow down and actually care how my stitches look. I also just need to sew more. I am going to come up with some projects and actually do them.
A few I have thought of doing are:
Cloth Diapers. We need some more because the ones we have are looky pretty ratty and old. Of course, they are 4 years old and have gone through 3 babies/toddlers.
Lucy’s Raspberry quilt. I have had most of the material for this since last May. I need to get some more and just do it!
Some cute skirts. I see so many cute skirt patterns at Wal-Mart. I think I am going to buy a few and make the skirts.
Well… that is how I plan to accomplish my 2008 goals. I know I shall be adding more goals to my list for this year and more ways to accomplish them. I sure hope I can get all these done. I would love to have such a prosperous year!
Have you any goals you want to accomplish in 2008? How do you plan to accomplish them?
I hope you are going strong in your goals and accomplishing them!
Love, Blessings and Prayers As Always,

Thanks for stopping by “Daily” at the “Planet”!!

I didn’t come up with any goals this year. Mostly because I had no idea what to do. I know I definitely need to get back into a daily devotional because since school started, I haven’t done one. Yikes! I have been so overwhelmed with classes and papers already, I haven’t stopped much to do anything. Sometimes it seems there aren’t enough hours in the day and other days you wish they’d just be over. I have been in such a confusing bind over what I should be doing and what am I doing and such, I think going back to daily devotionals would be great. I used to get them at church and would read them daily but I haven’t seen to church in weeks. ( I get fed up with the youth and have been looking around for a new church ). Last semester was much better, this semester has been going horrible so far. I wish I could just find a job and not bother with college but that’s not possible. Other than that, things have been alright. Family the same, got a new garage door wednesday, I need to find a another job, typical stuff. What about you? I haven’t been around to many people’s blogs lately. I need to catch up with that. I got your e-mail, reply shortly. Blessings and prayers!

Dear Amanda,
Thank you for your comment… it is always fun to hear from you.
I enjoyed reading your post.. seems we have many of the same goals, but that shouldn’t be a surprise…:) We seem to like a lot of the same things, or do the same things.
Oh, that is fun you would like to work on your sewing. Skirts are always a good place to start. Or the baby quilt! I’m sure it will be really cute…you’ll have to post it…
Have you ever seen Threads Magzine? It is a fun and worth reading sewing mag that always has something in it, for every level of sewing.. .I often find things in there and just ohh, and ahhh, over them … wondering how they made that or did that. lol… ,but I’m sort of a sewing freak… I love it.
I laptop would be so nice for you Amanda, I wish they didn’t have to cost so much….hmmm… I’d love one too. Well, I hope and pray your find the job that God wants you to have… so you can get your laptop.
Well I hope you have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Brielle

Hey, I noticed you have The Scarlet Letter listed as one of the books you want to read this year. I just finished reading it a few days ago, and I definitely recommend it. Hawthorne has a very different style, but it’s excellent.

Yeah, I’ve been trying to read my Bible more too. Normally I( read at night according to a plan that would get me through the Bible in a year. But I’ve been doing that for a few yeears now, so I’m trying something new. I’ve been getting up earlier and reading my Bible for around thirty minutes. Although I’m definitely NOT a morning person, I’m really enjoying it!
That’s cool that you want to learn guitar! I’ve been trying to learn it too, but I’m not very good. Still, it’s fun.

HI!
I’m learning guitar and using this great program “8 chords 100 songs”. It’s really good, so if you want a program that will teach you the basics, check it out.
Your goals sound great!

Loved your post as always, Amanda
Oh how I love the idea of a “Bible Reading Journal.” I’ve sort of started one of my own, and it has been wonderful, I mean wonderful!
“Work on my shortcomings — This is the same as above. I can’t fix these, only Jesus can. I will take time and get into the Word and Converse with the Lord everyday, so He can show me what I need to work on.”
How wonderful, Amanda, and how true. I desire the same thing, to be more like Jesus and to work on my shortcomings. And there’s things and bad habits in my life that I can’t change but only with His help.
I’ve been helping my Dad with the taxes too
I honestly don’t know how y’all do it without wireless!
I think it’s so important to have goals, but also to know how your going to accomplish them, like you’ve done. Making them is not enough! I’m praying for a very prosperous year as well.
Have a great day,
Brooke.

Do you have any idea how absolutely, unbelievably and totally proud I am of you?
We have our differences; we have our laughs, and I think you are fantastic. Mothers can never choose which child they love best. That is impossible since you are all so individually best in your own ways, but I am thankful you are firstborn.
You have always been a great firstborn. Seeing you grow and taking responsibility for your life and your future and your actions, yet tempering them with the Lord’s leading is all I hope for for your life. And all of your brothers and sisters.
I love this list. It is so you. Thank you for sharing it. they are good goals and good plans.
If someone would have told me that today our lives would be what they are in relation to spiritual growth and family love and camaraderie, I would not have understood just how good that meant it would be!
I love you. ~Mom

I was looking through some of your older posts about your Grandparents, and I came upon this one. Did you do a list for 2009? I sure would love to see it. You are so organized and disciplined. I am just so proud of who you are.
This is such an insight into you Amanda. I just had to comment again and tell you I am so proud of you. I love you.
This also made me realize how much I miss your blogging. You write such wonderful, meaningful posts. I love the photos you post. I looked back this morning through a bunch of memories, and I am so thankful you blog like you do.
Love you, Mom
