I have an obsessive personality
and lately I’ve been listening to the Sons of Korah songs over and over… I wish I could find the music for them because they are just so beautiful and powerful.
Psalms 67
“God, be gracious to us, and bless us. May he make his face shine toward us, (Selah) so that your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples give thanks to you, God; let the peoples give thanks to you, all of them. Let the nations be glad and shout for joy, for you will judge the peoples fairly and guide the nations on earth. (Selah) Let the peoples give thanks to you, God; let the peoples give thanks to you, all of them. The earth has yielded its harvest; may God, our God, bless us. May God continue to bless us, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.“
I am making that my song the cry of my heart! I want Him to be praised and given thanks to. I want Him to be given everything He deserves that I can give Him. As I was listening to this song I started thinking about His face shining on me. It brings to mind when I read about Moses coming down from His presence and his face was shining so much that they people were afraid and Moses had to cover his face.
Exodus 34
“When Moshe came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand, he didn’t realize that the skin of his face was sending out rays of light as a result of his talking with [ADONAI]. When Aharon and the people of Isra’el saw Moshe, the skin of his face was shining; and they were afraid to approach him. But Moshe called to them; then Aharon and all the community leaders came back to him, and Moshe spoke to them. Afterwards, all the people of Isra’el came near; and he passed on to them all the orders that ADONAI had told him on Mount Sinai. Once Moshe had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. But when he went in before ADONAI for him to speak, he would take the veil off until he came out; then, when he came out, he would tell the people of Isra’el what he had been ordered. But when the people of Isra’el saw Moshe’s face, that the skin of Moshe’s face shone, he would put the veil back over his face until he went in again to speak with [ADONAI].“
I want Him to shine His face on me just like Moses. I want to be like Moses in so many ways. Moses was called friend of God.
Exodus 33:11
“ADONAI would speak to Moshe face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.“
It is my deepest wish to have God talk to me face to face; to be my close friend! He is the only one who will always be there for you. You can always count on Him. Everyone needs a friend like that.
Sometimes it feels as tho I can’t hear Him when I pray, but I know He always hears me and I have to remind myself that just because He doesn’t answer right away doesn’t mean He won’t answer at all.
I pray that I am always open to hear whatever His reply is and to do it.
Our God is wonderful and awesome and deserves all our praises and thanks! He has done so much for us and there is no way we could repay it. THAT just shows His everlasting love to us: even though we can’t ever repay what He has done, He continues to give it!
What a loving God He is!

Beautiful. I’ve been enjoying the Sons of Korah after finding them either here or at your sister’s blog. The next time I can buy a CD it will be on of theirs! Great post.

I love the Psalms, but can leave most of their music. I think we should make up our own tunes to them.
Psalm 67 is wonderful. Very beautiful. Now if we can only remember our part to be thankful when we expect his blessings!
Obsessive, huh? Interesting admission, my dear.
LOVE you!

Thank you for sharing that Amanda. Some of my favorite songs are scripture verse songs. I have a few tapes that contain topical scripture songs like Anxiety, Faith, etc. and the Lord will bring those songs to mind when I have a particular struggle.
Have a blessed week!

I honestly didn’t listen to the video before. I had gone through and deleted some of the songs from the Sons of Korah, because I really don’t like the hard rock feeling of most of them. I will have to think about this one.
I do love the message in it, and I do like the Psalm. The beginning of it reminds me of the Sh’ma.
I love you Amanda. I love your heart.
Have a SUPER day today!
