Super Scrub

Published in Feelin' Feminine and Modest, Gorgeous You!, Homekeeping Ideas from a 20 year old, Organics

Last week I made an all natural, organic face scrub because I wanted to try a different one than just the cinnamon honey one we had come up with. I had read up some things on different homemade scrubs and I kinda combined a few different ones I had found. This one I’ve come up with is the best one I ever used, even better than the “profession” ones I’ve used. My skin was so smooth after I used it, I was really amazed!
I chose these ingredients because 1.) they are things we all have on hand. 2.) they have amazing benefits.

*Honey is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose and minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, iron and phosphate and contains vitamins B1, B2, C, B6, B5 and B3. Honey has anti-microbial properties and is known to treat minor irritations and sun burns and has the ability to retain water. So it will also moisturizer your face.

*Cinnamon is antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic. When combined with honey, cinnamon will remove pimples from the roots.

*Baking Soda is an excellent skin exfoliant, removing dirt and dead cells from your skin, prevent acne and it keeps your skin clean. It also gives a natural glow.

*Sea Salt is a great source of minerals including iodine. Sea salt contains numerous trace minerals and these help protect the body from toxins, parasites, bacteria, viruses, and other illnesses, it also normalizes the water in the body and it plays a vital role in cell functions. It is also a grainy exfoliant.

Those are just a few of the benefits of the ingredients. See why it worked so good? :)
Ingredients:

2 1/2 tsp honey
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp sea salt

Mix them up very good and then rub all over your face avoiding eyes, mouth, nostrils, ya know the normal areas. ;) I left it on for 10minutes and I could feel is working on my face. After I used it, I still have some leftover, so be sure to put it in an airtight container so it doesn’t dry out til your next use. I have done this once a week.
I’ve used just the cinnamon and honey scrub before but it would always run down my face. When I added the baking soda it made it pastier and it stayed put. The salt granuals. along with the cinnamon, scrubbed my face as I rubbed it, removing dead skin etc.
Make sure to follow up the scrub with a toner and moisturizer. I use Witch Hazel as a toner because it all natural and Virgin Coconut Oil as a moisturizer because it all natural and not oily and is so healthy for you.

Really this is an amazing and natural way to take care of your skin. Let me know if you try it and how it worked for you or if you did anything different.

    Greetings Amanda,
    what a nice recipe.
I actually tried it today and my skin felt really soft, but I think for me…my skin must not like the cinnamon…(although I love to eat it),but my skin was red, almost orange colored after using it…so I’m hoping the color will go away,…do you know if cinnamon can stain the skin?

other then that, great recipe, (and I honestly have really sensitive skin so I think that is it) this works really well and my skin felt really soft and clear…

Thanks for sharing! Look forward to more recipes. :)

Have a nice day – Brielle

Unfortunately, I have a larger-grain sea salt, so I won’t be able to try the full version right away! :)
