Being the perfectionist, have to have everything in order, organized gal that I am, I just had to have a Chronological Bible. When I read the Bible and read a passage and then move to another book and find out that what I was reading happened before what I just read, it bugs me.
A couple of years ago, I searched and searched online to find a list of the books in chronological order of the Bible. It took me awhile to actually find one, but at last I did. Well I thought it was so neat to be able to read the Bible in the way it happened. Only it was a pain to have to read the passage and then go back to another book and read the next passage and then go back to the book you were at before. I got to about Ezekiel and just stopped because it was such a pain.
A couple months ago, I was looking through a CBD catalog we had just gotten, and was looking through the Bibles, because I really needed one. Mom really doesn’t like the Bible and version I have which is the TruthQuest Student Inductive Translation. I like the way it is, but Mom loves KJV and requires us to use it for all our reading and writings. So the Bible I had was pretty much useless to me. Anyway, I was looking for a bible in the catalog, and came across The Reese Chronological Bible. I read the specs and really thought I would enjoy it.
So for a Christmas present from my Grandpa when he asked what we wanted, I said I would like to have that Bible.
Since the beginning of the year I have tried to get into the Word more, but haven’t done a very good job sadly. I went to look for a Bible the other day, and got so excited that I was getting the Chronological one. Mom, of course, asked me how I knew that was what I was getting, to which I replied, “uh, its the only thing I asked for.” lol!!
Anyway, we still hadn’t gotten our gifts from my grandpa because he went on a trip after Christmas. Grandpa and Dorothy got to come over on Monday nite and give everyone their gifts.
I was just so happy when I opened my box and there was the Reese Bible. I took some time to read through it. It is so very neat.
Some of the features are:
*A general index in the beginning that presents the Bible story in outline form, and notes where the incident is located.
*Length of life in indicated with the heading describing an individual’s death.
*The generation lineage of our Lord is indicated in the headings describing the individual’s birth.
*Whenever possible, dates are used to help in grasping a proper perspective of the time element involved in each section.
*Every verse in the Bible is included in The Reese Chronological Bible. An index is located in the back of the Bible that gives the page number of every chapter in the Bible.
*A few items of contemporary history are added to some titles to give them additional help.
This Bible also has “The Jewish Year”. It is a calendar of the Hebraic year. Stating the months and their Jewish names and also what happenings there are in each month. It gives reference to Scripture that talks about the months too.
It gives the years and dates of when the Scriptures take place too.
I can’t wait to read this Bible all the way through. It is going to be so cool. I love it already!!
I thought this was interesting. It starts off with John 1:1-2, then goes to Psalm 90:2, then Genesis 1:1, and then it goes to Isaiah 1412-17, Ezekiel 28:13-18, and finally ends the page with Genesis 1:2.
If you looked up those Scriptures you will see that it talks about Satan being cast from Heaven.
Here is what they had to say on why they did it that way:
“Man in his finite being cannot comprehend the ways of an infinite God. In some ares where the Bible is silent, we will have to wait until eternity future to get many answers. Many scholars believe that Satan was cast out of heaven causing a perfect earth to become void and chaotic and thus causing havoc on some kind of pre-Adamic creation, with God then renovating the earth and preparing it for man as we know him some 6,00 years ago. Others believe that Satan did not come to earth until Genesis 3 when sin entered the world. Reese believed in the late creation theory.”
I thought that was interesting and good to know. I really don’t know enough to know which one would be true.
Well I thought I would share with you all my new favorite Bible. I don’t think I will be using it for family reading though as I would have to use the index to find specific chapters and verses, but still all the same, I love it.
Something to ease my perfectionism… haha!! Now if only I could get the laundry to organize itself into piles and get everything else organized and perfected. lol!!
Also, I want to let you all know of a new page on my blog. It’s the “I Am Praying For” page. If you have a prayer request, please either email me or leave a comment with the prayer request and I will pray for you.
As the body of Christ, we need to intercede for each other and lift each other up in Jesus’ name to the Father. Yes, He knows all our needs, but as the Bible says:
Matthew 18:20
“For where two or more are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst.“
That means even when we gather together across the United States or the World, Jesus is still there with us.
So please let me know what I can pray with you for. I would love to be a prayer warrior for you!!
Love, Blessings and Prayers As Always,

Thanks for stopping by “Daily” at the “Planet”!!

OOOH… that Bible sounds amazing. I would love to get one like that someday. I am actually searching for an Interlinear Bible… with Hebrew, Greek and English b/c my Hannie wants to read “what it REALLY says”! Isn’t that cute coming from a seven year old?

Very interesting. I get a little confused jumping around from book to book with my One Year Bible.
You trust your mama on her KJV preference.

Thank-you for praying for me! I will be praying for you too!
That’s really cool! At times I’ve wanted to have a Bible where everything was in chronological order, but I didn’t know that they actually made them! I will have to get it sometime!!!

Hi Amanda!
Your new Bible sounds cool. What a nice gift.
I’ve been reading through the Bible chronologically too, but it’s pretty much just book by book so my list started with Genesis then Job, etc…
Have a great weekend!

I for one will always start with the beganning of the Bible and move to the end. I’ll rarely do a mornings reading by opening the Bible to a random spot… Always at the beganning. What would you call that? Beganningism?
It’s the same with Narnia, reading MN first instead of LWW drives me nuts.

That Bible version sounds pretty neat!

I’m getting better, thanks for praying for me!
I have a question, is there any way that I can contact my SSA and ask her to pray for me for something? (I mean, so that I don’t have to post it on my blog!)
Have a great day!

We have that bible. Mom really liked using it when we studied old testament times because she could read straight through it. Have you had a chance to use it yet?

Oooo… very interesting. I’ll have to check that out! I also like to have things in order… and perfectly lined up, straightened and evenly spaced. Oi. Talk about impossible with 3 boys!
