Oh! Its so hard to wait for things in life. We wait for food to get finished making, wait for clothes to wash and dry, wait for things to grow, wait for things to start, wait for things to end, wait for new things, wait for things to end, wait for the future, etc. I believe that life’s purpose is learning to wait.
I have an exceedingly hard time waiting for things.I’m very impatient and want things done now. This year, God has really shown me that I need to wait. Wait on so many things and its so hard. But I have learned through experiences and through the Scriptures that when we wait, God is faithful to us and will bring us out of the waiting time we are going through…. eventually… in His perfect time.
Psalm 40:1
“I waited patiently for ADONAI, till he turned toward me and heard my cry.“
When we learn to wait and wait patiently with hope, God will hear us and see us and will deliver us.
Psalm 37:7
“Be still before ADONAI; wait patiently till he comes.“
We must learn to be still and wait for Him. We have hope and promise that He will come, so just keep that in mind and dwell on it.
Psalm 130:5
“I wait longingly for ADONAI; I put my hope in his word.“
Wait on ADONAI and He will come. We have His Word is our comfort and we can trust and hope in it. While we are waiting getting into His Word is the best thing you can to. It helps you stay focused on why you’re waiting, it encourages you to wait patiently and most importantly… its God’s letter to you. His own words right there for you to read and learn and grow from. Awesome, isn’t it?
I know its so not easy to wait on things… its the biggest struggle I have in my life, but we must wait patiently on God to bring about His will in our lives. Even if its not what we want. I don’t want to wait. I hate waiting. But its what I’ve got to do, because that’s life and I know that there are lessons for me to learn and areas for me to grow in as I wait.
His plan is perfect and that should be what we want too. Any waiting period not only brings us to want His perfect will, but it will bring us closer to Him and through a waiting period we learn to trust in Him with our everything!
Still learning to wait,

Hm, that is so true. I am having to wait and see what God’s purpose for having my brother be sick all the time is; it’s SO hard. Sometimes I wonder what God is doing… but then I remember that we serve an awesome God who loves us!

Waiting goes by much faster when you keep active with other worth while activities like you are doing. Patience and perseverance pay off one day you will look back on all of this waiting and it will seem that time flew by. It’s really inspiring to a young women who is such a deep thinker and employs moral values!

Amanda,
You are such an encouragement! I have a 20 year old daughter, and to see you have such a love for the LORD is awesome! She is very involved in Church and loves God so much too. I also homeschool my 9 year old son……my daughter graduated last year (I only homeschooled her for a couple of years when she was little). Keep on living for God….you are an amazing girl. God bless you!

One of my favorite movie quotes is “Lord, give us the strength to accept your will.” That involves a lot of patience too, so I’ve found. Good (and very true) post!

But, the best things in life are the ones worth waiting on.

Amen! My worst waiting problem is waiting on other people … I tend to think “If it was me, I would get this done, so much faster!!!” Great post!

My verse in life is Isaiah 40:31 for they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up on wings as eagles thus the name eaglewings.
See it all makes sense once you understand what lies behind the story. All things in it’s time. In our hurry up world we miss so much of life because we do not take time to wait and wait patiently. Taking time to just sit and enjoy his presence. To know that GOD HAS everything completely under control there really is no need to rush about so. The 23rd psalm picks up an interesting trait of sheep they must be MADE TO LIE DOWN in green pastures. For the verse reads he maketh me to lie down in green pastures. We like silly sheep would simply rush right on by those green pastures. NOW SIT AND BE STILL

Yeah I meant to put in my post about how waiting on the Lord helps us let go of things and let Him be in charge and in control.

Amanda,
This is so appropriate for me right now as we wait to see where the Lord will send us next. We were supposed to be out of this house that we’re renting by today because the owner is returning. We haven’t been able to find a house big enough for us. We’ve looked and looked. The city is giving us a hard time because we have so many children. They say we can’t live in a 4 bedroom house because we can’t have more than 2 people per bedroom. We are stuck because we can’t find any 5 bedroom houses. We know that God has the perfect house for us in His perfect time, but I feel the pressure of the owner wanting his house back and I feel like we’re doing something wrong. But God is taking care of everything, and I trust Him to get us out of here at the right time and to smooth things over with the owner. It would be nice to know what’s going to happen, but we’ve found that waiting is a form of worship and a form of suffering. We prove our faith and increase our faith by waiting.
Thanks for such a timely post.:)

This is such a great post. I am so amazed by your knowledge and growth in His word at such a young age. I hope you never change and continue to keep a close walk with Him.

Totally! My life verse has become Psalm 130:6 “My soul waits for the Lord more than the watchmen wait for morning.” I love that word picture, a man sitting in a tower, waiting out the dark and the cold for the dawn and the comfort of his home. Very excellent topic. I’m very glad you wrote about it!

Great post! I’m really impatient as well and sometimes it’s hard to accept that God will do things in HIS own time, not OUR own time! My life verse is Romans 8:28 – it reminds me that God works for my good, and when he needs me to wait it will benefit me in the long run.
Your blog is always an inspiration!

Oh Amanda… where in the world do you get your impatience from? I’m sure I have no idea…
You are a lot more patient than I ever was at your young age. Of course, you know a lot more of the Word and Yehovah than I did.
I am thankful he is blessing you and teaching you. Keep being teachable to his Word.
Love, Mom

My friend turned me on to this blog. We had been talking in church about the concept of waiting and he told me he had just read a really good article about it. He was right, you really know your scripture! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I enjoyed reading them.

Amanda, that is so true!
I wish that while I lived at home and my fiancee was off at school (I finished a semester before him) that I had used my time more wisely.
All that we have is now, because tomorrow is never promised, so we need to make use of today. I’m glad that you’ve realized this and pray that you take the time to walk closely to the Lord; the waiting, the living, the wanting, will all be easier when you are close to Him.
