Wanna know how you can get a new fingerprint? That is what happens when you grab a skewer out of a 450′ oven while holding a potholder in your other hand…
While I was making lunch today, I went to grab a skewer of baked potatoes out of the oven and as I was doing that, Lillie came over towards me and the really hot oven. So with my hand that I had just put the potholder on, I stopped her from coming closer and with my other hand I reached and grabbed the skewer. OI! Yeah then the tears fell after I jumped back, ran for the ice, a bowl and the cold water faucet. After soaking it in the ice water for 15min, I grabbed my amazing Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil and drenched my finger in it. The VCO dimmed the pain of the burn down immensely and by 4 hours later there was no burning feeling. I LOVE VCO! Of course, when the pain of the burn went away, I then slammed my finger in the door! :O and that brought not only the pain of being slammed, but also the burning feeling back. I doused in VCO again. Right now my finger feels fine except for feeling like there’s a seared dent in it. lol. it feels really weird actually.
So the moral of the story… make sure you have the potholder on the hand you are gonna grab something out of the oven with.
I promise I do not normally hurt myself so much! haha!

Yeah, that’s what they all say. LOL! I say the same thing, “I never get hurt”…right after I’ve tortured myself each day of the week by being asleep or plain stupid.

Sounds like you need to drown your pain in snapple raspberry tea! (that is the flavor that you like, right?)

At least you protected your Little Loolie while you were burning your fingertip! I know she appreciated that!
BUT, like I told you when it happened… I probably woulda’ done the same thing!
The only other thing I can say is Duh.
Hope it heals well soon! Of course, if the scar stays, you will always have a little story for Loo about how you protected her.

Glad it seems to be healing! And isn’t that the way it goes–you stub your toe, and then that’s the one you hit, gets stepped on by a goat, whatever!
One Thanksgiving I went to pull a hot glass dish out of the oven with the hot pad on one hand and I reached for it with the other one! Not even a toddler to save to have a good excuse!
And I was more upset about losing the yummy sweet potato casserole for our dinner!
Hope you continue to heal!

Poor deary, I did something similar the other day, I was making a thing on the stove, and I just casually go to flip it with my fingers and somebody starts talking to me so I hold still for a second….then I realize, my finger is on the hot skillet! I didn’t have any fancy coconut stuff

ouch! I bet that really hurt! Glad to hear it’s feeling a little better
I did something like that a few months ago. I had just taken some brownies out to cool and laid them on the stove, then came back (completely forgetting the potholders) and picked up the glass pan with both hands to set it on a rack…boy oh boy did that hurt! Never made a mark though, just turned white.
haha. we all have our stories to tell, don’t we?

Haha! Oh boy do I do things like that all the time. I’m real good at burning myself!
But yeah, that’s great that you found that out about the coconut oil! That’s what we use all the time, works like a charm.
Just ask my mom!

Oooh … That looks like it would have really hurt!
Another thing that works great on burns is Aloe Vera, straight from the plant. We just break off one of the “leaves” and put the goo from inside of it all over the burn. It works great! It does sting a little tiny bit sometimes, but it heals the burn VERY fast and almost always removes any trace without the slightest scar!
I hope you heal soon!
To the KING be all the glory!
Love,
Rebekah

have a question. Does any ordinary Coconut Oil work, or does it have to be any specific kind?

I don’t think it has to be any specific kind, but Virgin Coconut Oil is probably the best to get if you can.

Ouch! That does not look very fun! I have done things like that before—grab the hot pan without thinking : ( Oh yes, and as for your “I think I can” post, I know you can! : D Mommy pretty much taught herself how to sew, and look what she can do now : ) AND you’ve done such a nice job on the other projects you’ve made, surely you can do the apron, too : D So…. I know you can, I know you can, I know you can….. : D
Thank you for your comment on my post the other day : ) I can’t wait to get together with you, too!!!
Love and hugs!

Bad idea. Then again, I’m the guy who just hurt his neck fairly significantly jumping into an outfield fence catching a fly ball… At least you were doing something productive. Chiro said I have at least a week long heal time. Ecch.
Hope you have no lasting damage!

I’ve totally done that one myself. Pre-heated an oven to 450 but when I opened it up to put something in, I noticed there was a bowl in the oven. Not thinking about the fact that it had been in there while the oven was heating, I reached in and grabbed it bare handed. I even managed to get it all the way out of the oven before all the alarms in my brain went off. Felt pretty stupid that day.
