I am just in awe of the sacrifice of my Savior! I’m speechless at His love for me that He went through such a a horrible scourging and a painful death for my sins. Celebrating Pesach this week has brought new meaning to what Christ did for me. Studying the Word and learning about the Jewish culture has been amazing to me because it has shown me Christ’s character and His life. Unfortunately, the Jewishness has been taken out of everything and thus we cannot understand fully the significance of what Christ has done for us and what it truly means. Jewishness is of God because the Jews are God’s Holy people. He set up their customs, therefore they are His design for His people.
We watched The Passion of the Christ today, and I am going to add through tears too, and as I was watching it, there I noticed things I hadn’t noticed before because I have a better understanding of the Jewish culture. I also realized and was amazed at Yeshua’s endurance and purpose of going through beatings, and scourgings, and carrying His cross all while looking towards Calvary. He wanted to go there for us! He looked forward to going there so that He might save us through his sacrifice and His blood. I have really never seen it that way before. As I watched The Passion today I realized that Yeshua had so much stamina as a human. What His body went through was more than anyone could have borne, yet He did!
I am in dumbfounded for the right words to express my gratitude and the awe I am feeling that Yeshua took my punishment and death, so that I could live forever! It is almost too much to comprehend.
I am so thankful for His sacrifice, His love, His endurance, His pain, His Blood, His stripes, His death and His resurrection. All of that was for us. He did all that for us so that we can sin over and over and still be forgiven. He did that for US. When I was younger there was a song that really struck me. It is by Jonah33 and while their music is really hard, the words to this song are so powerful.
His time with them had stopped,
It’s time for Him to carry out His father’s will,
Is that He drink this cup
He’s told them all along that He would go,
They could not follow Him
But He’ll be back for them my friend
And now He sweats these drops of blood
And He prays take this cup from me
But He knows there’s no other way
His father’s will is that He take your sin, your shame,
Your place upon that cross of pain And die for you
There’s no way to repay
All the pain He went through for you
His reason: simply His love
It’s time to see the truth
And understand there’s nothing you can do
His reason was simply you
It was all for, it was all for you
He bled and He died for you
We live by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ
Who died to set us free
From chains our flesh can give
You know that even if you were the only one He died for
That means only your sins drove the nails
No time to hesitate my friend
No time to second guess His love
There’s nothing else that you can do
He already gave it all for you
All for you, all for you, all for you
Simply you
Isaiah 53:4-10
In fact, it was our diseases he bore, our pains from which he suffered; yet we regarded him as punished, stricken and afflicted by God.
But he was wounded because of our crimes, crushed because of our sins; the disciplining that makes us whole fell on him, and by his bruises we are healed.
We all, like sheep, went astray; we turned, each one, to his own way; yet ADONAI laid on him the guilt of all of us. Or: and in fellowship with him though mistreated, he was submissive – he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to be slaughtered, like a sheep silent before its shearers, he did not open his mouth.
After forcible arrest and sentencing, he was taken away; and none of his generation protested his being cut off from the land of the living for the crimes of my people, who deserved the punishment themselves.
He was given a grave among the wicked; in his death he was with a rich man. Although he had done no violence and had said nothing deceptive, yet it pleased ADONAI to crush him with illness, to see if he would present himself as a guilt offering. If he does, he will see his offspring; and he will prolong his days; and at his hand ADONAI’s desire will be accomplished.
Let’s focus on Him this week, because HE IS RISEN and He reigns! This week is all about HIM!
Shalom to you!

What a wonderful post. The depth of the sacrifice Christ made for us truly didn’t hit me until I was 45 years old and watched The Passion of the Christ. About 4 minutes into the movie I started crying because I knew what was coming…and just cried the entire movie…I think mostly because even being a believer all my life, it hit me during that moment the suffering He went through, the sacrifice. We are Greek Orthodox Christians and celebrate Easter next Sunday, so I’m looking forward to a meaningful Holy Week and the celebration of His resurrection. The church services on Friday and the service on Saturday at midnight are my favorite, as they truly renew my heart and soul with His message of salvation.
Thank you for your post!

When I read the title of this, my first thought was that it isn’t FOR us, really. Our purpose is to glorify HIM. For Him to make the ultimate sacrifice for us, then overcome death with LIFE for us, is the ultimate glorification for HIMSELF.

that is so true, Mrs. McLean! I actually meant to put something about how much He did for me that the least I could do for Him was to live my life for Him, but as I was writing my post, I had to run out to get a Little… then my train of thought was lost!
thanks for bringing that thought back to me!
HUGS!
