The Heart of Worship

Published in Me Myself and I, Reflections of a 19 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, Super Favorites, What the Bible means to Me- A 19 year old

One of my favorite worship songs really speaks volumes about how music and worshiping nowadays is all about the worshiper instead of the worshiped. The Heart of Worship brings to light that our worship songs aren’t about worshiping God wholly and completely. We NEED to get back to what the heart of worshiping really is: making it ALL about him.

Psalm 29:2
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

He so deserves all our worship! It really needs to be all about Him. He is so wonderful and I want my worship to be solely about Him. We as humans spend enough time thinking about ourselves and we don’t need to take that into when we worship. Worshiping God is a privilege and it needs to be ALL ABOUT HIM!

The Heart of Worship
When the music fades
And all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth
That will bless your heart
I’ll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the ways things appear
You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You Jesus

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I’m weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath

I’ll bring You more than just a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You Jesus
Its all about you
Jesus

I long for my worship to glorify Him and bring Him the praise He deserves! I am coming back to the heart of worship because its all about my Savior!

Love, love, LOVE that song. As someone whose been on church praise and worship teams (10 years at one church and 12-1/2 on the church we just left) I know what it is like to be on a team that is totally “show” (the 1st one – that’s why we left) and one that is totally worship (on the team we just left). I switched off between singing, flute, Irish penny whistle and hammered dulcimer. I played flute on “Heart of Worship”. It’s a particularly meaningful song for Mr. Wolf and me. :-)

I love that song too… it’s so meaningful when our pianist/singer plays it on Sundays, because she really does sing it from her heart.
I love music. I love worshiping God and singing songs of worship. But it doesn’t matter unless it comes from the heart. I guess that’s why I love this song… because it shows that worship isn’t a puppet thing, it’s a heart thing!

Thanks for stimulating my brain first thing this morning!
Oh, and the other day I updated my blog with a 2009 reading list… ever since you posted yours I’ve been wanting to do the same. Please forgive me it looks like the identical format to yours! I hope you don’t mind!

I have a video of this song on my blog — it’s Kayla, my daughter, singing it with her friends at church. Kayla is the one playing guitar. =)

I really love that song too. Such a great message. I’ve been thinking a lot about worship recently and making it more a part of my life. It’s something I’ve strayed away from, and I feel the lack in my life. There’s nothing like being able to stand in awe of God.
