I had such a neat time with getting to know others last week in the Homeschool Memoirs Weekly Theme. It is so great to meet other homeschoolers who share similar ideas and thoughts.
I am excited about this week’s theme:
Homeschool Memoirs: Agendas! Here is the Theme:

This week’s theme is about sharing your 2008-09 homeschool agendas and plans. You’ve been preparing your plans for sometime and you’re ready to go. Or you’re still in the planning-stage and need some inspiration or tips on what to use. Because many use different curriculum and methods there is always something new to be gleaned from other homeschoolers. It’s always fun and interesting to see what other’s are using and the WWWWH as Robin Sampson suggests. So this week I hope you will share what you’re doing this year for your homeschool agenda. Share the different curriculum you’re using. You can also include what age/grade you’re using it for, how long you’ve been using it, and why you like it.
Please share a Bible verse that has encouraged you or inspired you during this planning-process, and how.

My plans and agendas for this year are going to vary so much from many of my other school years, since it won’t be for a grade. It will be college level. My awesome friend, Paulie, did such a great job on his college test and shared about his classes. Awesome job, Paulie! :D
I was talking to Paulie afterward and was telling him a little about my “college” classes. They will be Spanish, Advanced Algebra, Accounting, Journalism Writing, Biblical Studies and Holidays, Literature, Blogging and some Computer Science.
Man, reading that, I am realizing it sure is a lot! I am really looking forward to it though. It’s going to be really neat to accomplish all of this. I am really looking forward to Accounting and Spanish. I have been wanting to learn Spanish for about 3 years now, but it just didn’t happen. I am really excited that we will be learning it this year!

Here is an in-depth look at my classes:

Spanish
- A Beka Spanish Year One and Two

Advanced Algebra – I took A Beka Algebra in 8th grade. So for my high school years I took Saxon Algebra I. That constituted to being Algebra II, so I will be using the Saxon Algebra II as advanced Algebra.

AccountingPractical Accounting Fundamentals. I love accounting and secretary work, so this is going to be really great!

Journalism Writing – I am looking into this a bit more. I think I found a resource I am going to use. I will learn more about this through writing for GGM too.

Biblical Studies and Holidays
A Family Guide to the Biblical Holidays by Robin Sampson. The Bible.

Literature – Reading many many books! :) I have a long list of book I would like to read. I will continue leading book discussions with my Mama on the HSB Literary Club. We are starting a new book on September 5th, so be sure to go sign up!

Blogging
– I shared last week about all the places I blog. I will be keeping those up this coming year too and learning from them.

Computer Science – Still looking into this. There is so much we could do and so much information about it.

History
– American Government. American History. And anything else I want to learn about in History! :P

Mama has a way more detailed list of what Dixon Christian Academy is doing this year in her Homeschool Agendas. Make sure to pop on over there and read it!
I am really looking forward to this school year. I know its going to be amazing and God is going to do so much in my life! I can’t wait!

Wow, that is a lot to be doing! Puts me to shame! ;) But I’ll have an interesting dichotomy between university classes and self-taught classes–we’ll see which ones prove best!

Best wishes and here’s to a productive, fun-filled year!

Amanda, You’re looking forward to accounting class? My kind of girl! I taught my 16yo dd a semnester of accounting, now she’s planning to major in accounting in college. She also worked for one of my tax clients as a bookkeeper last year. When I showed her how Quickbooks worked on she said,” This is SWEET!” :-)

Accountants are a unique breed. People pay us for doing what we like and what comes naturally! I hope it goes well for you!
