Saturday Psalm and Praise: Be Still My Soul

Published in Reflections of a 18 year old, Saturday Psalm and Praise, The Daily Life at The Daily Planet
I am so excited when Saturdays come! Saturdays mean Saturday Psalm and Praises and when I read those that my friends and family have written I get such an encouragement and refreshment out of them. It is so great to me that I can read some praise to our Lord!I have really been stressed out this week and yesterday was just a bad day! I am so thankful for forgiveness! It is such a great gift and we need to be so thankful for it! Saturday Psalm & Praise

Yesterday, the bad day, I just felt God say, “Be Still. I am right here with you!” What a comfort to know that no matter how low we sink, God will be right there by our sides! Just the thought gives me strength to go through anything because I know God will be with me through everything! Such a simple promise that we too often forget: God will be with us no matter where we go!

Matthew 29:20bI am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Today for my Saturday Psalm and Praise, I would like to share with you one of my favorite hymns that came to my mind when my spirit was calmed…

Be Still My Soul
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.

Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine
Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

What a great song to remind us to be still and hear God through everything! This whole hymn is so encouraging and I love every verse. I tried picking out just one, but couldn’t! :P They are all too awesome to choose!
I hope this song has encouraged and maybe lifted up your spirit today! It sure did mine! :) Each Saturday join Jacque (Mama) @ Walking Therein, and many others who are taking their Saturdays and expressing their praise to the Lord. To participate, you can post a Psalm or a praise and tell what impact it has had on you.

Make sure to sign the linky:  when you post your SP&P, so we link over and read it! I hope to see you on there! :D

    Very good choice, Amanda….
    Sometimes it’s difficult to “be Still” while we trust God in everything, but how wonderful to be still and rest in His love.

    I love this song too. Sometimes we need to be still. To tell ourselves to be still. Life can get busy and can come in and almost crush us, and we do need to just be still.

    Lovely post, Miss A. It’s so true, if we can just quiet ourselves and BE in God’s presence, which is always there. It’s sometimes a matter of recognizing that. Plus when we’re still, we’re able to hear from Him. Even if it’s nothing more than “I’m here.”

    Blessings,

    Even in our worries, (I am a huge worrier!) we need to be still. That is what I need to work on. To be still when my mind is racing with “what ifs” and just wait on the Lord.

    Thank you for sharing!
