Let’s Pack Up and Head To Louisiana!

I hope you all aren’t tired of seeing pictures about vacation. We aren’t close to being done! Here is Vacation Days June 8th, June 9th and June 10th! You can click on the picture to see the original sizes.

Our 2008 Trip to LA

After leaving the Lirettes, we stopped to get gas and drinks. We then headed to Louisiana. It was a nice drive and everyone was pretty much happy… well sleeping. :)

We were making good time and were going to be there before 9pm. Everyone was happy about that because we had been getting in late to our stops.
About 8:30pm, we were about half an hour from Aunt Barbara’s, then we see some flashing signs that said one lane highway. So we get over in plenty of time and get stuck in traffic. Now mind you, it is Sunday nite about 8:30pm. We are in traffic and driving VERY slowly. We were driving like that for about 15miles at about a stop and go speed. Then the cars from the back start passes us… and people are letting them in in front of us. That was not smart. After driving like this for about half an hour, we just went around the traffic. Supposedly there were workers doing something and we hadn’t seen anyone for the whole time. This goes on for about an hour to an hour and half. We are pretty frustrated, LillieGirl is upset and so is Cal-Eb. So FINALLY we see some workers on the road… wanna guess what they were doing? \:)… laying down the road reflectors. Yep at 9:30pm on a Sunday nite, they are laying reflectors on the highway. We were not a happy family.

We finally get to Aunt Barbara’s about 10:30pm. It was so neat meeting Aunt Barbara and Grandpa and Uncle Leo. I had not see them since I was about 1, so I don’t really know them. I am happy to say I do now!

Here is LillieGirl meeting Grandpa… She was so tired from crying! Poor baby!

When we got in, Aunt Barbara had a delicious meal of beef and noodles with rice and veggies waiting for us. It was really nice to have a home cooked meal after being on the road.
We ate and since it was pretty late, we all headed to bed. We were so tired!

We got up on Monday, at a decent time. Aunt Barbara had already left for work and Grandpa and Uncle Leo were outside with the kids. I was able to get some laundry in and get a shower! :D Joy!

When I finished the laundry and went outside with the rest of the posse, they were out on the front porch with Grandpa. He had just shown them around and they were now sitting and talking. When I came out, look who I found:

Cowboy Caleb!
He is so cute! LOL! It was so funny to see the little dude with Grandpa’s hat on. He looks like Yosemite Sam! LOL!

Mama and I made a list of groceries, so we could make dinner for everyone. More of the family was coming later and Jocelyn, Rachel and I were making dinner.
When we finished the list, Dad, Jocelyn, Caleb and I went to Wal-Mart, after stopping at a gas station to download email and stuff. We had a fun time at WM. I found a really awesome purse! I have been wanting one like this one, but couldn’t find one in my area. So I was so happy to find it in LA! It was so great to have on vacation, because I could fit my cosmetics and stuff in!

When we got back, Aunt Barbara was here because she was able to get off work early! Woohoo! Look at her here lovin’ on LillieGirl –>
Of course, who can help but love on her? She is so sweet and loving!

We came back and started prepping the stuff for dinner. We made organic
spaghetti, fried green beans with olive
oil, turkey bacon, and onions, salad, carrots, and garlic bread.
You can see the green beans and sauce in this picture.
<–
And of course, my Sonic Blue Coconut! I tried to have one everyday. :P

Here you can see all of us girls cooking. Jocelyn is making the salad dressing, I am scooping out the green beans, and I am not sure what Rachel was doing… watching me I think.

Photobucket

People started getting there and we ate. I must say it was sooo good! I really love spaghetti!
Since everyone was pretty much together and it probably wouldn’t happen again, we had a big photo shoot!

Here is Great Grandpa with all the grandchildren and great grandchildren:Photobucket

Here is Grandpa with Dad:Photobucket

This picture is so precious! Can you see the tear in Grandpa’s eye? I am not sure why he was crying, but I think its because all his family was together! I just love this picture! Priceless!

Here are the Dixon chicks plus one more Dixon Chick:Photobucket

Aunt Barbara is so awesome! I *LOVED* spending time with her and getting to know her!

Aunt Barbara, if you are reading this: Thank you so much for spending time with us! I had a awesome time getting to know you and I hope we can see each other again soon! Love you!

Here are just the Dixon Chicks:Photobucket

If only the LillieGirl was looking! She has a habit of looking at the camera, til you hit the button and then she looks away! So most of her pictures her head is turned! Isn’t my family just beautiful? I sure think so! :D

When everyone was finished eating, Mama put a new zipper in a new skirt for me. The one that was in it was really bad and it was broken, so Mama fixed it for me! Aunt Joy came and sat down with us to talk.

While I was sitting there, watching Mama, Jocelyn the photographer decided to get a close up…WAY to close up!
She is so weirdy sometimes! I don’t know how many pictures I have like these because she decided to do a face shot! :P

Pretty soon, it was late and everyone went home. When they left, we stayed  up longer and talked to Aunt Barbara. Had a super time!
Then we got the kids to bed, well… except for Caleb. He wasn’t ready yet.
Mama and I stayed up with him til he fell asleep which was late!

Everyone wanted to get up early to say goodbye to Aunt Barbara who was leaving early for work. I was up way to late to get up as early as they did, but I did get up in time to spend some time before she left!

Aunt Barbara left for work, and then we started to get everything ready to leave. I helped pack the van
and get everyone’s laundry together.
You can see me loading things in the van. Like my Awesome Supergirl picture and afghan.
Rachel was telling me that Mama was taking my picture… :P

Ok… van packed!

When the van was packed, we then got dressed and ready to leave. Said goodbye to Grandpa and Uncle Leo, packed up the kids, and headed out!
We started on our way to Texas to see Sprittibee!

I was so happy that we got to go and spend time with Aunt Barbara and everyone down in LA. We had such a great time!

So our next stop is Sprittibee! We had such a sweet time with her and crew! Can’t wait to share it with you!

Also, I will be doing the Feelin’ Feminine Challenge too. I can’t wait to share my story with you!

Speaking about trips, Paulie the absent-blogger just left on his trip today And They’re Off! He is not so absent anymore! haha… He was in Knoxville and now he is in Atlanta! Go check it out and leave him a comment!

Love, Prayers and Blessings,

Beautiful pictures! I’m so glad that you had a wonderful visit. The sweet picture of your grandpa and his teary eyes is really a treasure! Bless his heart. I am curious about your fried green beans. I’ve never tried them that way and I think I just might! We’ll soon have a TON of them on. Do you start with fresh beans? By the way…. I just can’t seem to visit your blog without wanting to watch P&P…again. LOL Someday, I hope to have a “Jane Austen Movie Marathon” with the Dixon Chicks. :-)

I miss you too, and can’t wait to see ya’ll.

Thank you for your comments. I’m hoping to have a senior art show next May, so I’ll be busy doing a lot of painting. :)

I’ve noticed that you and Rachel have these nifty little things at the bottom of each comment that say “…so-and-so’s last blog post….” That’s really neat.

I wish I had something that said, “Yes, you replied to that comment” or the like. I am so bad at replying to comments! That’s partly why I would like my own website – so I wouldn’t look like such a bad friend! And I might catch up. :P

Well, hopefully we’ll see you soon. Too bad you won’t be able to meet Charlie. You would have liked him.

    Blessings,
